Decorating Easter Eggs:

Oh*o is one of the few places in the country where you can find green grass on Christmas and a foot of snow on Easter. We were supposed to go to my parent’s house for an Easter Egg Hunt at Church on Saturday and Sunrise services on Sunday...the boys really wanted to go. Kaytlin had never experienced Easter at Granny and Gramps, but she was excited because her brother were! However, when we started the trip on Saturday morning there were cars flying OFF the highway due to black ice, so we turned around and came home. We were all sad, Easter morning in the church of my childhood is something special for me. For some reason, even though I am now Catholic, every time I go home and attend church, something feels at peace. I think it is being with all the people who have known me forever. I think it is important, that we share our children with this family as they have faithfully prayed for us through Andrew's birth and diagnosis, our decision to adopt, and Kaytlin's surgeries. They are my "family". I also think it is important for the children to experience different ways of worship. They know that we are Catholic, but they also are clear in the realization that Catholic or Protestant, we all believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that is the important thing.

The kids were up early to search for their Easter Baskets, and we went to early Mass at our Parish. It was a beautiful service, and I always leave mass with an uplifted heart. After the disappointment of the day before, Easter Sunday was fun and relaxed. Kaytlin wasn’t too sure what she was supposed to do, but caught on to searching for her pink eggs quite quickly. (Each of the kids has their own color of egg to search out...that way the older two don’t find all the eggs that were "hidden" in obvious places for the little ones!) Unfortunately, our Easter Egg hunt had to be moved to the basement...The Easter Bunny had left us with a bag of eggs, "Just in Case" we could hunt outside...a mom can wish, right?!

The kids look for a series of numbered eggs, each containing a clue that will eventually lead them to their basket. The clues for the older two are riddles, the younger two will get picture clues until they are old enough to read!

Hunting Eggs:

It was a happy and relaxed day.
